Sport Injury Treatment and Sport Exercise Rehabilitation Following Injury

Posted: April 13, 2015

Following injury individuals seek the help of clinical therapists to assist them via Sport exercise rehabilitation for treatment and recovery. The severity and location of the injury will dictate the planning of the soft tissue therapy treatment and exercise rehabilitation plan. In addition sport injury treatment and occupational injury treatment will also dictate a difference in treatment planning.

If the injury is at a acute stage 0-3 days the Exercise rehabilitation aspect will place enthuses upon using certain therapies to control and reduce the swelling at the area. The rehabilitation will be focused on movement within pain free range.

If the injury is at a sub acute stage 3 days – 6 weeks the sport injury treatment aspect will look into therapies to increase fibre tissue growth this can include ultrasound therapy interferential therapy to name a few. The rehabilitation aspect will focus on balance work which will be static and some aspects of strength work.

Final stage of injury treatment will place Sport injury treatment enthuses upon strength work and rehabilitation work will include dynamic balance work as well as fitness training.

Treatment of sport injury and occupational injury differ in the fact that someone with a occupational injury maybe neck injury due to their office computer job will want to get treated and resume work. Similarly someone with a sports injury will want to get treated and go back into playing their respective activity. Therefore at certain Sport and occupational injury treatment rehabilitation stages a therapist may use different techniques. For example balance therapy and rehabilitation for someone with an occupational injury may involve wobble board exercises in a static motion (no movement). However balance therapy and rehabilitation for someone who has a sports injury may involve open chain exercises i.e. jumping off one foot landing on another to imitate an action within the sport they play and to gauge fitness back into sport.

Whether treatment of sports injury or occupational injury the role of Sport injury rehabilitation may differ but ultimately the goal is to treat the injury in a speedy and professional manner.

What our clients say

"Playing rugby at a high standard means I must stay fit and injury free. Although i wasn't injured at the time I payed a visit to the Queens Road Sports Injury Clinic after having been told by a freind the indepth injury prevention work they offer. It was clear to see that the treatment team were very experienced and were used to working with high caliber sports personel as the asssesment and biomechanical analyses was exceptional. I was told about the injuries that i could be more at risk of gettign and had a strict well supported rehabillition programme to follow. After just a few sessions i can honestly say i feel a big difference in my balance and equal muscular strength. Even though I am at the later stages of my career feel it is a great service to stay injury free and would realy benefit any youngsters who are keen to play their relative sports at the highest level. "My son suffered from a chronic knee condition which leads him not being able take part in any physical activity for over 8 months. It was very frustrating for me and my son with the problem not being solved and him not being able to play football or be a normal active teenager. After travelling near and far and having visited a lot of therapists I came across the Queens Road Sports Injury Clinic by chance. From the very first consultation I knew my son was in good hands. The assessments and analyses he was put through were extremely thorough and it was clear for me to see what the problem was and why after seeing other therapists it still was not fixed. Two months later after my son started the treatment, we was both back to playing sport and doing normal physical activities. It was not only the treatment I was happy with but the support my son received throughout his rehabilitation programme. I received information and advice when I needed it even outside clinic times. If you’re looking for goodservice, brilliant support and recovering treatment from an injury or discomfort pain then visiting the Queens Road Sports Injury Clinic is a must, their experienced team will not let you down".
