Injury Prevention

Injury Prevention In Sport

Injury prevention in sport also known as pre-hab is a fairly new concept. However with sport at elite and armature level getting more competitive and the demands on the body ever increasing teams and individuals are turning towards pre-hab to combat injury before they occur. Teams use pre-hab to ensure their players are fit and injury free ready to perform at optimum level throughout the season.

Experienced coaches know that having their strongest team out every game means they are more likely to win and progress further. Likewise individuals use pre-hab to ensure they stay injury free in their respective sport. Here at the Queens Rd Sport Injury our experienced therapists have worked within national and international sports teams and personally with elite athletes allowing us to provide an in depth biomechanical assessment showing the key areas of weakness and the injuries an individual is more susceptible to. With this information we can create a tailor made pre-hab plan to ensure weaknesses are strengthened and injury risk decreased.

Occupational Injury Prevention

It is a common misconception that injury prevention is only effective in sport. Here at the Queens Road Sports injury clinic we can transfer the biomechanical assessment results to create an occupational injury prevention programme. We regularly treat and asses individuals who do not play sport but are in repetitive labour occupations such as building, warehouse or office work. These types of work put a high level of stress and demand on the body leading to injury which in turn means time off work. With this in mind businesses and individuals use our experienced therapists to ensure them or their workers stay injury free.

Injury Prevention for Children

With sport being played more competitively children are starting to play at a much younger age. To achieve their full potential sports teams and academies are ensuring that individuals are given the best care in injury treatment rehabilitation and prevention from a young age. Many individuals have to stop playing at academy or pre academy level due to injuries.

Here at the Queens Road Sports Injury Clinic our experienced therapists work with many local and national junior and youth establishments. We have worked with children aged 5 right up to adults so you can rest assure you are in the best hands for any injury worries and prevention analyses. The importance of injury prevention for children has been well documented in sport today as many career ending injuries which occur at a later stage can be prevented at a junior age stage by injury prevention screening.

"My son suffered from a chronic knee condition which leads him not being able take part in any physical activity for over 8 months. It was very frustrating for me and my son with the problem not being solved and him not being able to play football or be a normal active teenager. After travelling near and far and having visited a lot of therapists I came across the Queens Road Sports Injury Clinic by chance. From the very first consultation I knew my son was in good hands. The assessments and analyses he was put through were extremely thorough and it was clear for me to see what the problem was and why after seeing other therapists it still was not fixed. Two months later after my son started the treatment, we was both back to playing sport and doing normal physical activities. It was not only the treatment I was happy with but the support my son received throughout his rehabilitation programme. I received information and advice when I needed it even outside clinic times.
