We also asked 100 clients Do You Think Sports Massage Decreases The Risk of Sports Injury? It would seem there was a 60/40 split where 60 clients did think regular sports massages decreased the risk of sports injury and 40 clients thought that sports massage did not decrease the risk of sports injury.

To answer these questions we must look at the research on the benefits of sports massage. It is widely thought that  the human body benefits both physically and physiologically.

Sports Massage and its Effects on Sports Injury What Does The Research Indicate?

Research shows that sports massages can help to remove lactic acid from muscle tissue after exercise. It also indicates that sports massages can increase the flexibility of muscle tissue, reduce stress, and improve blood circulation. These benefits in turn can lead to reduce the risk of sports injury. In conclusion modern research does indicate sports massage and its benefits can decrease and help reduce the risk of sports injury.

The increase of blood circulation and removal of waste products such as lactic acid from muscle tissue improves the efficiency of muscle tissue through activity thus decreasing the risk of injury through elements such as fatigue.

Sports massages can remove scar tissue and increase the range of movement within muscle tissue, which can also decrease the risk of sports injury.

Finally the psychological affects of massage such as stress reduction ensures that the human body is in sync whilst performing physical activity. This not only makes the individual make better choices through the game such as making the right pass or making the right pass at a faster rate but it also improves concentration helping to reduce the risk of sports injury.

Our Advice

In conclusion we have found that sports massages and its benefits can reduce the risk of sports injury. The benefits of massage are not only found for reduction of injury within sport but it can also be a very effective tool to reduce the risk of occupational injury.

"My son suffered from a chronic knee condition which leads him not being able take part in any physical activity for over 8 months. It was very frustrating for me and my son with the problem not being solved and him not being able to play football or be a normal active teenager. After travelling near and far and having visited a lot of therapists I came across the Queens Road Sports Injury Clinic by chance. From the very first consultation I knew my son was in good hands. The assessments and analyses he was put through were extremely thorough and it was clear for me to see what the problem was and why after seeing other therapists it still was not fixed. Two months later after my son started the treatment, we was both back to playing sport and doing normal physical activities. It was not only the treatment I was happy with but the support my son received throughout his rehabilitation programme. I received information and advice when I needed it even outside clinic times.
